My name is Samantha Rhoads (she/her/hers), and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. My primary goal is to create an atmosphere of non-judgement, comfort, honesty, and trust with my clients; I believe that this is paramount to achieving meaningful growth and change. I also prioritize compassion and empathy for my clients’ stories as I hold space for their hardships. I recognize that therapy and vulnerability can be intimidating, so I am committed to meeting clients where they’re at, with the utmost warmth and authenticity.

I take a collaborative approach to therapy, in which I work alongside my clients and utilize the power of the therapeutic relationship. I work with individuals, couples, and families to strengthen relationships, deconstruct dysfunctional behaviors, and cope with otherwise challenging life experiences. Above all, I aim to empower my clients to be agents of their lives, while they also take accountability for themselves.

I utilize therapeutic frameworks like Internal Family Systems Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method to address your emotions, patterns, and needs. I also pull from modalities like Attachment-Based Family Therapy, and Relational Life Therapy. I have particular interest in working with girls and women seeking help in navigating their unique life experiences. I also focus on challenges and transitions within parent-child and romantic relationships, giving attention to the importance of attachment and connection.

I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Drexel University; their emphasis on systemic-based thinking introduced to me the complexity of contexts, backgrounds, and relationships. At Drexel, I received my Prolonged Trauma Exposure Certification which helps individuals gradually approach trauma-related memories, thoughts, and feelings. I am trained in The Therapy Group’s premarital coaching program that prepares couples for the next step in their relationship.

Being a therapist excites me as it allows me to channel my passions in an effort to help others. The relationship between myself and my clients is sacred as I witness the most fragile and challenging parts of their lives. Outside of therapy, I spend time with family and friends, reading non-fiction, scrapbooking, and journaling.
