Specialties: Individual, Couples
My name is Remy Brown (she/her/hers) and I believe meaningful change and healing stems from corrective emotional experiences and gaining deeper insight into ourselves, our patterns, and our bonds. I work with adult individuals and couples experiencing challenges related to relationships, anxiety, and difficult life transitions/experiences.
At the core of my practice lies a commitment to creating meaningful therapeutic connections grounded in trust, empathy, and authenticity. I wholeheartedly believe that this supportive bond is the foundation for effective therapy. I strive to create a respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel safe to explore your past experiences and most vulnerable emotions. I use a dynamic and relational approach informed by emotion-focused and psychodynamic principles. These perspectives focus on gaining insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and create opportunities for transformative, healing experiences in session. Together, we'll explore your emotions, uncover patterns, improve your relationship with yourself and others, increase self-awareness, and foster personal growth. In session, you can expect me to be active, direct, and curious. I believe you are the expert in your own life, but I am here to empower you with support, compassion, and resources.
Specific to my work with couples, I primarily use interventions from The Gottman Method to build effective communication strategies, deconstruct unhelpful cycles, improve conflict resolution, and increase emotional intimacy and connection. Whether you are coming in during a relational crisis or want to create a secure foundation for a long, healthy relationship, we will dive deep to create shared meaning for long lasting growth.
I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. During my graduate education, I received training in Exposure and Response Prevention therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Specific Phobias. I will often pull from this approach for clients experiencing OCD or other forms of anxiety.
My favorite thing about being a therapist is forming a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients. It is such a privilege to get to listen to and learn from my clients’ stories and witness their healing and growth. I believe that therapy isn't just about serious introspection—it's also about finding moments of levity and humor amidst the complexities of our emotions. Outside of the therapy office, I enjoy weight lifting, spending time with my dog, family and friends, exploring new restaurants, and curling up on the couch for hours of reality tv.
