Specialties: Individual
My name is Katherine Moran (she/her/hers) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with individuals of all ages, especially those struggling with eating disorders, body disturbance, anxiety, depression or trauma.
I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can truly be themselves and explore their issues with curiosity, flexibility and humor. I also use an integrative approach, combining tenants of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic therapy, so that we can explore how early life events shape one’s world view, while also challenging problematic thought patterns that are currently impacting their wellbeing.
During sessions, I work with my clients to identify patterns that they want to change and how past experiences, maladaptive thoughts and judgments may be keeping them stuck in problematic cycles. I am also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, which allows me to work with individuals who’ve experienced trauma and identify what beliefs are keeping them stuck and challenge the beliefs that resulted from the trauma.
My favorite thing about being a therapist is helping clients have “aha moments” where they can recognize what beliefs and assumptions are influencing their relationships and quality of life. When I’m not working, I enjoy seeing live music, baking, reading thriller novels and spending time with my rescue dog, Munchie (who is the most ridiculous combination of dog breeds – a pitbull–shih tzu mix!)
