Hi, my name is Hyelee Yoon (she/her/hers), and I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist who brings my humor, intuition, and attentive ear to each of my clients. I see life as a journey through a world that can be both beautiful and broken; a journey that in turn shapes how we see ourselves and others. I am invested in helping clients more deeply understand their intra-and interpersonal patterns and the existential themes of their lives. I especially love working with couples and families because as humans we are hard-wired for connection and belonging, and the quality of our relationships acutely impacts our sense of wellbeing. In a world where disconnection and suffering are ubiquitous, I believe learning to connect authentically to our loved ones and to our own true selves is a path for healing and meaning.
I use both a psychodynamic and growth-oriented approach informed by emotion-focused therapy, IFS, and mindfulness. I also bring my experiences as a mother of three adult children, a partner of 30+ years, and a fellow sojourner through the joys and griefs of life in a messy world.
I studied English at Wellesley College, earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, and received my Master in Couple and Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. In my free time I love to eat, drink, talk, and laugh with my family and friends.
