JoAnne M. Hanson, LMFT (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Play Therapist, Reiki Master-Teacher and interdisciplinary healer who believes that the best approach to therapy is an integrative one. Utilizing her extensive training in Mindfulness-Based Play Family Therapy, and expertise as a Master Energy Healer, and Hypnotherapist, JoAnne is skilled at creating a safe space for individuals, families, and children to feel fully supported and understood from a holistic perspective.

JoAnne specializes in aiding individuals and families in working through relational challenges, life-transitions, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and traumatic events. She has a keen interest in engaging with women and families with children and teens. In the therapy room JoAnne will guide, encourage, and support you, and together, you will explore and process areas of distress. Her approach is warm, educational, strengths-based, and empowering. She leads with a focus on enhancing self-esteem and personal power. JoAnne also operates from a client-centered perspective and believes that you are the expert in your own life. Likewise, when working with children, JoAnne embodies a child-centered approach in that the child is free to express themselves naturally and unrestricted in the play room.

JoAnne genuinely believes that at the core each of us desires and deserves love, support, and acceptance, and that therapy provides an opportunity to explore the areas of your life in which these things might be lacking or being challenged. By gaining knowledge about our attachment style, understanding the patterns in our lives, and giving ourselves space to navigate our personal and familial challenges, we can live our best life and create a personal narrative to match our new belief system.
