Specialties: Individual, Couples, Families
My name is Fiona Molina and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe that with care, compassion and understanding, we are able to work through unlearning childhood patterns that shape the way we view the world.
I have a passion for working with individuals, couples and families, particularly with clients of color, as they navigate various areas of their lives, including life transitions, generational trauma, cultural differences, and blended families. As someone who has personally made a life transition of moving to the United States, I am equipped to help clients work through the many feelings that arise with life changes.
My warm, empathetic approach allows me to create a safe space within the room to foster healthy growth and self development. Along with my personality, I use culture, style and humor to connect with people. It’s important for me to get to know my clients and what experiences contribute to who they are today. I have a conversational style and want clients to feel comfortable being their authentic self with me. A session with me incorporates uncovering what may hinder self development and what can foster healthy growth. I help clients discover what patterns may contribute to repeated cycles or generational trends and identify how to combat this. I incorporate a feedback-informed approach, allowing clients to have collaborative input in the room to ensure they are getting what they need from our sessions. This is helpful as it encourages clients to advocate for themselves in other areas of their lives. I love encouraging my clients and highlighting their achievements, no matter how small or big!
I utilize a systemic approach as I believe that external systems impact our thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and it is important to be aware of the role these parts play in our lives. I use a variety of modalities, from emotion-focused therapy to solution focused, but ultimately the modality is tailored to a clients needs. Tools from Bowenian family systems, Gottman, and Theraplay have been helpful when working with clients, as it has allowed them to be vulnerable and discover ways to better connect with themselves and others.
I have a Masters in Couple and Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. I love being a therapist because I get to help clients navigate different phases of their lives while sticking alongside them every step of the way. I am grateful to be a trusted part of their journey and highlighting the growth I have seen during our time together. In my spare time, I enjoy watching my favorite shows, spending time with loved ones, trying new restaurants and traveling.
